Retaining Walls are an intricate part of the design process. Walls create usable property, thus giving the designer a good canvas to create art. The delicate balance of beauty and functionality is where a good design comes into play. A structural design is the backbone of the project and the 3D design shows how it will all interact. A combination of the two is rare but when properly utilized, it makes for an amazing showcase.
Below are some of the projects from our design center.

This house had a big back yard with a fence that encompassed a relatively small portion of it. Hedges hid a large space under the deck that was not being used.

Overall plan - remove fence, dig out and level area below deck for spa and covered seating area. Seperate grades with wall. Make paver walkways and patios - one with cabana and fireplace.
Dimensions for cabana
Original plan had grass area to the right below wall and cabana. This was to save on pavers but would have been a wet area and non-functional.
Planter put at base of wall, pavers and border replace grass.
Planter put at base of wall, pavers and border replace grass.
Pavers under spa had to be leveled in a cut-out section. This will allow spa to sit level and still let pavers slope to drain as specified by ICPI.
Side rendering of cabana with columns and lights. Notice high-resolution of materials due to custom library. Zooming in on product in 3D app would show actual imperfections in concrete as in real life.
